  Oh Yeru FFS stop banging the same tired drum. We have time and again provided proof of how Bush is a liar and a shitbag and all you do is stick your fingers in your ears and shout 'LALALA I can't hear you'. You are not even prepared to acknowledge the facts that are presented. I know that the 'liberal' side of the debate is just as fond of the similar tactics of ignoring what doesn't fit their arguement but can we just drop the bickering?

  we've managed to get very heated about the iraq debacle but noone on either side of the debate has come up with a sensible alternative to the mess bush has made.

  so what would you have done if post 911 you were president?

  i would have invaded afghanistan and destroyed the taliban, have got pakistan onside from day one and ensured that their borders were not porous and would have stayed in afghanistan until the job was done rather than the poor job done so far.

  We've managed to get very heated about the Iraq debacle but noone on either side of the debate has come up with a sensible alternative to the mess Bush has made. So what would you have done if post 911 you were president? Me? I would have invaded Afghanistan and destroyed the Taliban, have got Pakistan onside from day one and ensured that their borders were not porous and would have stayed in Afghanistan until the job was done rather than the poor job done so far. All that has been achieved is rallying the terrorists and helped them recruitmore suicide bombers. COupled with this I would have pressed Israel to accept a two state solution giving the palestinians statehood thus giving them the freedom so many believe was worth invading Iraq for. I would not have turned my gaze towards Iraq until Afghanistan was properly stable and Hanz Blix and the CIA spies working with him had examined Iraq's capabilities and proven the existence or lack thereof of WMD's. What I wouldn't have done is gone off half cocked like Bush and invaded Iraq out of petulence and then lied about it. Any thoughts?

  Actually I don't think Bush did it for humanitarian reasons either (but I think you know that )...I personally think that it needed to be done for that reason...but I imagine his reasoning was more he needed a target in the fight against terrorism and they were the most convenient.

  But that's what really grinds my balls, if he had said 'Ok guys this Saddaam is a real bad guy and what we are going to do is free his people and as an aside we are going to use the war as an economic kick start and obviously benefit from the oil and reconstruction contracts' then I would have said, 'yeah ok, it's a bit rich you offering to free a people when you are restricting the freedoms of Americans but let's do it anyway so they get the measure of freedom that we have'

  That would have been honest, and I am sure that despite being a fucktard that Bush is genuinely agrieved at the evil things that Saddam did to his people. Thing is that if he had said that then he would have had to have gone into other countries that are worse - Zimbabwe, Saudi etc

  The thing that really worries me about this is twofold - firstly I am not sure that we have effectively combatted terrorism. Look at Israel, by blowing up houses and by using massive force the Israelis have succeeded in amplifying the justification for terrorism in the minds of most Palestinians. Terrorism only works when it has the support of a indigenous population against the target and Israeli actions have alienated the ordinary moderate Palestinians to the point that more extremists and more bombers to be are created.

  Secondly look at the precident - any country can do whatever the hell it likes because international law and the credence of the UN doesn't matter any more.

  If it was about WMD's then Hanz Blix would have been given more resources and time. He was bumrushed for political expediency which is terrible.

  In the South West of England, my Dad still eats pig's trotters, chitterlings, brawn, pig's cheek (Bath chap) bloaters (Little fish) and he and I used to eat tripe, I think its illegal now! No African connection.He's 84 next week.Can't be bad.

  You can still get tripe if you look in the right places, mostly the small butchers. I'm from about as far sou west as you can get and it still weirds me out that people further north don't speak to anyone.

  i think awhile back i might have asked this,,,,,,,but it was way back and so many new ones here that i am just getting to know, and ones who came in here while i was not here as much.
